Unable to logout

The PC hangs after the logout process has started, the also happens when the user tryies to shutdown
Only a reset gets the PC running again

Any ideas :

This is a common problem with XP. Try Microsoft Update http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp. If that doesn't work, let us know.
