    new hard drive

I'm trying to install an extra hard drive for more storage. The hard drive is 120gb and after I installed it I checked it on my computer and it said that the hard drive only had like 33gb. How do I fix that so that it can be 120gb?

Have you been in the BIOS? Click either ESC, F1, F2 or Delete to enter BIOS setup.

Does it report the full size in BIOS?

You can repartition an extra drive like this from within Windows. You will lose any data on that drive.

In the control panel go to Administrative Tools \ Computer Management \ Storage \ Disk Management. Look around for your drive. From here you will be able to delete the partition and reformat.

Yeah I tired that but the max it will let me partition is about 33gb. I read somewhere that it said I have to configure the BIOS so that the computer can recognize it as 120gb.

The manual says: "Some BIOS setup utilities do not have an auto-detect option on the first page. In this case, choose the standard CMOS option to detect the hard drive."

Mine doesn't have auto-detect. So how do I "choose the standard CMOS option to detect the hard drive"?

Well, alot of times you can manually input the Sectors, Cylinders, etc....

This info should be printed on the drive itself or you can go to the manufacturer's web site. Input this info and it should properly calculate your space.
