    XP locking up

Have XP home, been running good for 4-5 years.
Recently it has been locking up at a mouse click. Intially while in IE6, then got worse. In fact this is the 2nd attempt to post.

The is what has been tried, in a rough chronological order.
    changed PS2 mouse
    changed to USB mouse
    upgraded to IE7
    defrag'd
    ran check disk
made sure all updates were running, including SP3
upgraded virus protection (norton 03 to norton 09)
    ran Spy-Bot 1.6
removed and cleaned every possilbe chip, board, connector, and reconnected/reseated everything putting RAM in different slots
    cleaned mother board
new power supply. old one was noisey.
    did a repair install

I am preparing to format c: and start over unless someone has other ideas.

    Thanks in advance...
