    Differences between Vista and 7?

I am getting a new Dell Laptop and it is going to have Windows 7 already installed. Now, I have grown to love my Vista, so what are the differences? What does 7 have that Vista does not and what am I going to loose with 7 that Vista has? I generally do not like to change OS until the newest has been out awhile, so kind of leery on this one.

They are very similar. You'll see a lot of graphical changes to the menus, the taskbar is nicer in 7 and networking is a lot easier. It's everything you loved with Vista plus more.

Glad to hear that, I just got my Vista back in Feb, and was anxious to get it. Now I have to give it up and move on. Is the security just as good in 7? Better maybe?

Looks pretty much the same...a couple of clicks and the system is off and defragging. I have to admit, I didn't defrag much in Vista and I do not expect to do a lot of it in 7 either.

vista needed defraged way more than you think it did, vista just told you it didn't. we had to use other programs to do it, defrag is a Major part of regular maintenance know mater what OS you use depending you usage. on one vista machine that comes to mind we installed over 15 programs and installed 6 new ones and vista said it didn't need defraged, yea whatever it needed it and bad.

I think windows 7 is lighter and consumes less resources. It has some more features than Vista.

    Good luck.
