computer frezzes
My computer freezes. I have already replaced the hard drive and that did not help. Any suggestions?

Computer freezes are often caused by heat buildup. Make sure your case fans, processor fan and power supply fan are all spinning fast.
If you can, open the case (be careful) and leave the side off while directing a table fan onto the motherboard. Try booting. If the system runs better, you might want to consider replacing or adding fans.
You said you replaced the hard drive. If you simply copied the old data from one drive to the other, you may want to consider a fresh install by reformating the drive and starting over. It's possible your old data may be corrupt.
One of these two suggestions should help you. Let us know.

computer freezes
I tried the fan thing, but still no luck. When I replaced the hard drive, I did a complete restore using the cd that came with my computer. It will only work for a minute or so before it freezes.

That's weird. Have you installed any upgrades recently? RAM, video card, anything?
This is starting to sound like a hardware thing, but your system is giving us no real clues as to the problem. You're getting no error messages. No strange beeps. It's just locking up.
Hmmm. I guess I'd start pulling cards out one by one. Cut back the RAM to the minimum. If you have two sticks of SDRAM pull one out. If the problem persists, swap the second stick with the first.
If you have another video card try swapping that out.
Let us know.

CPU FAN
Check the temp of the CPU in the Bios, if your system lets you...Sometimes the CPU can get too hot and shut down the system. Fans are a mechanical part, and can go bad. Best thing is that their not expensive and can be replaced with caution.

cpu temp
What is the temp supposed to be?

It really depends on your CPU. If you know what processor you have you can check their website for the specs. Usually 130 degrees is pushing it.

Major cause for freezing is hardware, incl. memory, heat, CPU
in some case, freezing is related to software, eg. OS, driver.
Since you tried a big fan method, I assume accumlated heat is not an issue. I would suggest you to look at the OS & driver.
You can simply to clean install windows if you don't want to deal with the problem or you want a quick comfirmation whether the software is the cause to your problem.
Freezing always is a *****. Especially, if you have a bad memory.
