blank screen when starting game

Every time i go to play a computer game the screen gos blank,and the green light on the monitor turns orange<standby>.If i take the wire out of the back of it and plug it back in after a few minutes it sometimes comes back on,and also the colour has gone darker on it,can anyone help me as it is totaly doing my head in and i dont think i can afford a new pc once this one has been thrown the window thanks in advance

Is it all games or just one in particular?

You could go to Microsoft and download the latest Direct X (Go to our Windows page for the link) and maybe go to the manufacturer of your video card and download the latest drivers. If you don't know the manufacturer, go to http://www.belarc.comand download the free Belarc Advisor which will index the hardware on your system. While on our Windows page, visit Microsoft Update, as well.

Basically, we just need to make sure your software is telling the hardware what to do properly.

Since this is probably a graphics card issue, you might need to upgrade your card to at least a 64MB card to run the latest games.

hey dude if u have a graphics card it has a big chance of being that. so if ur friend has the same type of graphics card trade out for a week and see if this still happens
