T61 6465 9tu wont power on

Hey guys and gals!

I have a T61 6465 9tu and it wont power on, the battery connections have corrosion on them but the charge light, and plugged in light are illuminated. I press power and nothing... Apparently it just quit turning on yesterday. I'm assuming it's either the corrosion, or the power button. any other good starting points you recommend?

have you tried removing any of the corrosion on the connectors?

how old is the battery? did this just suddenly happen? how often would you leave it on the mains charge?

This is a customers pc. They said they only plugged it in when it needed charging, overnight commonly. I have cleaned up visible corrosion from the connectors, but it hasnt made a difference. I also tried the "remove battery, press power 15 times, then hold... then plug into AC power only" that didnt help either. I guess Ill have to come up with a price quote for disassembly and see if there is corrosion crossing the mainboard somewhere?

leaving the battery on charge overnight overloads the battery, its being left on charge for at least 8 hours, i'd try a different battery
