Thread: Is there any OFF LINE ANTI VIRUS available?

  1. Is there any OFF LINE ANTI VIRUS available?

Got a computer at home but unfortunately i don't have an interner connection yet. So badly, my computer got infected by a virus from a USB. Got Kaspersky anti-virus on it but it's outdated so it wasn't able to remove the virus. Now i'm thinking, is there any OFF LINE anti-virus which could deal with virus?!? I could easily reformat my computer, i'm just trying to save the OS 1st before any drastic move...Anyone, got any idea?! Any help will be much appreciated ! Thanks !! You Geeks ...

You didnt state the symptoms, try using another computer and downloading malwarebytes free from filehippo.
The are real good at trojans and stuff normal av's dont catch. You can download and save, then put it on a cd or usb. Bring home and wala give it a whirl.
I think you could try downloading the latest version of your av and installing it on your computer too.
    Worth a try.
Also to figure how the USB drive got infected, and to clean that..

Slave your drive to a working computer with updated virus and malware protection. Then run scans on it. You can use Disc Management to reformat the USB drive to rid yourself of the virus on the flash drive.

You could also try a bootable Antivirus solution. It's a bootable CD with the latest version of antivirus including definitions that you can run without going into Windows. There are a number of different ones. The link suggests a few with instructions on downloading and using them. You would need an internet connection to view/download though which you haven't said in your original post if you have access to the internet from an alternative source. You would also need a CD burner in a working PC to make the Boot CD's.

Some of the links are outdated on page but I found a working and relatively up to date version of Bit Defender at the following link.
