    Suggestion

Maybe the techs could get together and come up with a set day and time to have a chat session. This way we who are in the dark could get some real time information and if anyone is willing to swap emails could get more detailed help so as not to tie up the chat box for too long. Just a suggestion form one who is in the dark. Anyway, I hope to see what the fine techs from this site think. Y'all have a good one.

Sounds good to me. We've been trying to do this for months. Since we all live in different parts of the country and have different responsibilities and schedules, it's been harder than I had thought.

That would be fun. I tried starting an IRC channel, but in the end not many people joined for various reasons. Scheduling is pretty difficult like Dave said, but also IRC is an overwhelming program at times for people that are new to that program.

Well, maybe you could do it by time zones. Set a date for a chat for east coast, central and west coast. Just need to get your techs on the same page, maybe via your staff only section. Just throw'n out some ideas mind you. I completely understand that y'all got busy lives and schedules. Not to mention ya don't want to make the better half mad. After all ya gotta close your eyes sometime. Any how y'all kick it around. Hope it will come to pass.

This site has no real staff. Dave owns the site, otherwise everyone else who helps out is just a member, like you.

I like the time idea, but we have tried it before. I didn't participate regularly, and I am assuming most other people didn't either. Maybe we could add a shoutbox and then direct people to chat/let people know people are in the chat.

The shoutbox was tried before, too. But it's worth another shot. I actually liked it.

Not sure what a shout box is, but if y'all could get something like that going it would be great. Everytime I'v been to the chat room it's been empty. I know there is not a staff per say, but thats the way I look at the techs on this site.
Y'all do an outstanding job. I just wish I was more knowledgeable to be able to lend a hand. I keep looking for something basic that I might be able to help someone with, but so far no luck. Am currently tring to find a site or better yet a book to get started learning more, but not sure where to start. Anyway thanks for y'all's time and effort you put into helping folks like me.

Wildnblu, I'm not sure which books to recommend, as I have read so many in the industry. Generally, I think the "....for Dummies" books are not that great. The O'riley books are great but very technical.

Maybe you should just hand out here and absorbe the knowledge of everyone else. It's their real-world experience that is the most valuable IMO.

    Thumbs up

Thanks for the reply Dave. Sounds like good advise. I just thought there might be a book I could take with me when I head back over the road. Until then I will keep reseaching your site.

I'm sure our board members will have a recommendation. Actually, the exam books are pretty good--for those studying for the A+ exam.

Mike Myers has one that I read a long time ago.
