    VPN Question

I use VPN to access work. VPN tunneling software installed on work provided laptop. No other Windows functions or software utilized including Internet. External USB Wireless NIC installed. Had been working for months, suddenly it no longer works. Router and wired LAN computer test good, Internet access possible. Work laptop can’t check Internet without disrupting complex settings for in-office use. You verify that the DHCP assigned IP address is 169.125.33.38. Why won’t the VPN software logon?

Its nothing formal like a cert test or a school test. Its a pre screen for an A+ tech posistion. Ive only had my A+ for about a month and without a lot of field experience there are something I do not know.

Oops sorry I put these question in the wrong area.

There are a few things you have to have in mind about VPN's...

1st. Your client can not have (or be) within the same IP address segment as your VPN server,

2ns. In order for you to access VPN as a client It has to be configured [the connection]... so... make sure the connection is present.

    3rd. you have yo be...
    A. Connected to the Internet or
    B. Be able to call in via modem.

4th. It is also possible that winsock is corrupted.

5th. Go to Start > Run > type netsh diag gui > then scan, that will give you an idea of how your network environment is doing...

    Hope this helps...
