    Spybot removal

I uninstalled Spybot so I could install Mcafee Virus proctection on my Dell Windows XP, but when I try to install Mcafee it says I need to remove Spybot before I can install it, so how do I uninstall it when it shows its no longer there when I go to uninstall??

Your computer doesn't want you to install Macafee. It wants you to install AVG free. Maybe you overlooked something because it uninstalls relatively easy.

Agreed with Bobbo. Why install a resource hog like McAfee? AVG is free and does a much better job. Every machine I work on I remove McAfee or Norton.
They are too bloated and ineffective in my opinion.

Take a look see in your C:\Program Files for any Spybot - Search & Destroy files and delete them and re-check in Add Remove Programs in Control Panel...SBS&D is a very good program and runs well with other programs why remove it...it may find something the other one doesn't.
Just update regularly and your good to go.

Pssst...i dont know if you have been told but avg for free is cool...plus it is free

    avg for free

Yeah, I know the new 8.0 is causing some people problems. But it's still a great free program.

I never had a problem until I upgraded to 8.0. At times, I find I have to reinstall it, like it dissappears.
