Internet connection accelerator

I am using a 56k dial-up internet connection. Would an Internet Connection Accelerator really speed up surfing or downloading. Some ads promise 200 to 500% speed increases.
If you would reccomend them, which ones are you favorites?
Search engines list a dizzying array of choices.
Or do you recommend against them?
Since I'm retired, cost is a factor.

I have used Download Accellerator a long time ago and it seemed to help a little. What this does is it opens several channels and downloads the file is pieces along those channels, then puts them back together on your end.

Your suggestion is right on. It seems to help a little. Hard to tell so far. I followed your website sugg., which took me to CNET for the download. There I chose "Kazaan Speedup 2.3", mainly due to the large number of downloads (250k). Thanks much. Karl.

I've never heard of that one.

Just make sure you run the Adaware program from our Must Have Free Downloads section EVERY time you download a free program....just to be safe.
