Beats me. Have you run a virus scan?
I was cleaning out my Windows\Temp folder today and found a few files called mcmsc_(random letters and numbers). Some were deleted for the most part but 3 could not be deleted because they were being used by windows, all 3 were dated as modified today.
These are the file names
mcmsc_7KJH0fgo79RNwOt
mcmsc_YxXMY9oOcDbRSDV
mcmsc_hz9ZktXm9gZShjw
What are these files? I have searched on google.com and found on answers.
Also, after today will I be able to delete them?
Beats me. Have you run a virus scan?
Yep, both virus and spybot S&D, nothing found.
It is created upon each bootup and the ones from the previous days are deletable, along with lpksetup files. I think they are legit but I would just like to know what they are.
Also if anyone else has them in their C:Windows\Temp folder?
Sorry if I seem paranoid but I would rather be safe than sorry. Had to format 2 desktops because of a virus file in C:Windows\Temp called abc123.pid
But please, someone running Vista, if you could check your Windows\temp that would be appreciated!!![]()
They are NOT in my temp folder and I run Vista. But that doesn't mean you have a virus. Anyone else?
I have a ton of lpksetup files. Looking in them, it looks like it is an error log for windows update. It looks like the process failed and it tried again, and again each time making the file.
I don't have any mcmsc files though. Are the text files? If they are, they are probably logs from something thats a part of windows.
"I'm going off the rails on a crazy train"
Anyone else have mcmsc_(random letters and numbers) files in their C:Windows\Temp?
I consuted a friend of mine who runs XP, he says he has a lot of mcmsc files.
Another one of my friends running XP says he does not have any, he also has Vista and was going to check on his Vista laptop...don't know what happened.
Like I said, it is probably about nothing, but still...
Thanks guys for the help so far.
Did a search on this same issue, because I had about 5 of these mcmsc files in my Temp folder.
Couldn't find anything either, but I did have my McAfee program open in the background.
As soon as I closed the McAfee window, poof the files disappeard from my Temp Folder.
So MSMC files could very well be associated with the McAfee Antivirus program.
It was for me.
