For Ubuntu, it will still run slowly. Fluxbuntu would probably run the best, followed by exubuntu, if you want to stay with the *buntu distros.
Does anybody know a link to the system requirements of Ubuntu. I can't find them at www.ubuntu.com. i have an old IBM thinkpad Intel 333mhz, 128mb ram, that runs XP Pro... slowly. Just wondering if its worth tossing Ubuntu on, if theres a chance it might run a litle better, than XP. I doubt it would, but I can't tell the difference on X2, 1GB RAM, so i figure I'd ask you guys.

If you want Linux but don't care too much about Ubuntu exactly, you could try **** Small Linux. It's small enough to run on a 486 processor with 16 MB of RAM.
Most of Linux needs at least 256MB ram, I know some about d*a*m small linux if you are new to Linux I would not suggest this distro. I think you can upgrade your Ram for the thinkpad and try mint Linux (think ubuntu but friendlier). if you like Mint than I would ask them which one is better but I think you can do either main or the XFCE CE desktop version if you have more ram . you will need at least 256 for the Live cd this is the same for ubuntu
here is a web site for memory, if you use the system scanner they offer it should find your memory type
