Would this work?
Okay. I have this setup, could this work with my Shared Docs, and a workgroup
Cable Modem---Computer---Wireless Router---Laptop
The computer is:
//DEASON/CHRIS
and the lap is
//DEASON/LAPTOP
I've assigned them coincidal x.101 and x.102 IPs
My problem was that the router messed up and slowed down my games (300 ping on 4mbit) and I wanted a way to get my streaming music files AND my direct-to-modem connection. Is this good?

Will work, but you are basically at the moment just using an ICS (ie main pc will need turned on to connect to the net) with more complexity than required as both PC and Laptop will talk to each other fine without the router between them (ad-hoc network) and just use ICS for the laptops net connection.
If ping levels from your PC are all important i would set it up as normal but run ethernet cable instead of wireless between the pc or laptop (whichever has the games) and the router with all ports the games use set to auto-forward to that pc(DMOZ). But remember ping is downto more than just your internal setup but that will give you lowest possible without ditching your router.
Bad diagram bellow warning (sorry for all the dots)
eg Modem -- Router -(cat5 cable connection)--Pc
........................|
..................(wireless connection)
........................|
.....................laptop
Although you will have to bear in mind if you are playing games and contantly streaming media between the two pc as the same time these are both high bandwidth functions so router will be delayed as it has to interprete where all those packets are being sent.
