    Server

    Here is the situation:

I have a desktop setup as a server. I know have a better compuer that I would like to make my server without doing all of the initial set-up and configuration to make this new desktop a server.

Could I just remove the hard-drive from the computer that is acting as my server now and place it in the new computer without and reconfigurations?

Thanking you in advance for your help.

I really think it would be easier to just start over. You have configurations that are saved on the drive, but you have different hardware (Network cards).

In a perfect world you could do what you are suggesting and have no problems, but by the time you go back and update drivers and work out all of the tiny problems associated with putting an old hard drive in an environment with totally different hardware, you could have the new system set up and running smooth.

Let us know what you end up doing.
