    two hosts two clients??

Would it be possible to set up a lan so that there is a internet connected host to a client which in turn plays host to a third ? With two network cards in both the first and the second it should work hay? Would I have to create two networks and bridge them? Just curious.

Yep, that should work. As long as the network IPs are set for each network. "A" will see "B" and "B" can see "A" and "C". Is this what you're asking?

The only potential sticking point might be that network A's workgroup will be named OFFICE, therefore computer B must also be named OFFICE. You will then need to name C office, too. The only difference will be the IP addresses.

    I'll think about it more.

    lan headaches

I tried and tried but I could not get the lan to work the way I wanted. I con't work it out as to my mind I can't figure out why it won't _ you know what I mean. So I got an eight port switch which works fine. I Wanted to hook it up to the modem and then have all the pc's and the xbox hooked up to it. I cannot get it to run this way however and I have had to run the modem to my pc and from there to the switch - so I am acting as a server kind of. Is this how they are supposed to run ( I have never had one before)

    LAN setup

if your intent is to share an internet conection, the easiest and most secure solution is to use a Router. Linksys, DLink, Netgear and USR offer several models. The USR 8000A allows you to share Broadband or Dialup internet service, as well as a Printer.

why would you need to set it up that way? much simpler to use tcp/ip or to have netbui setup. Netbui is easiest way, all u have to do is make sure netbui is installed on all computers connected, take 1 of the NIC's out of the first or second pc put it in the third, then connect ur internet to ur router or switch then 1 line out to each pc from the router or switch and ur done.
