Ftp server problem
Hi,
I just purchased an Actiontec external DSL Modem ( USB/Ethernet Home DSL Modem (With Routing Capabilities) (Model # R4500U) ) which is connected to one computer. The problem is I canīt make a ftp server which is visible through the ISP IP address however the ftp server worked when I was using an internal adsl modem.
The Actiontec external DSL Modem has a DHCP Server which assignes an ip address to the computer connected to the modem. So I would probably need to use Port Forwarding which is configured inside the Actiontec Setup Menu. If I configure the port forwarding I select the IP Port Range 20 to 21, Protocol as TCP and the IP Address is the IP of the computer hosting the ftp server.
However the ftp server can only be found if I type the IP address assigned by the Actiontec DHCP Server which is on the LAN but it cannot be found on the WAN using the ISP IP Address.
Iīm using BulletProof FTP Server.
This is the FTP server: http://www.bpftpserver.com/
This is the Modem : http://www.actiontec.com/support/dslmodems.html
Operating System: Windows XP
Thank you for your time.

you need to know the ip of the computer so that you can foward to the computer
what i would do is static in the ip address because it is possible for it to change
then port forward to that ip address
