English Rose needs help

Hi Guys

I am new to this site and could really do with your help....put it this way, the only thing I know about PC's is how to switch one on!

I have a Compaq Evo N610c, when I switch it on it comes up 1782-disk controller failure then goes to message 'non-system disk or disk error replace and strike any key when ready'

I think I need to get into the Bios screen and go select default settings.....but.....I cant find the Bios screen.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated....oh by the way if it is any help the laptop has been hiding away in a cupboard for nearly 2 years.

Hi Dee! Welcome to PCTechbytes!

By any chance did you leave a CD or floppy in it's appropriate drive? Power up the laptop and see if there is anything in either of the drives.
