Thread: Restore computer to original state

  1. Restore computer to original state

I am writing on behalf of my m8, she wants to restore her comp to the original state, I am sure she needs some kind of disk to do this (recovery disk?) but I am not sure, anyway she dosent have one.

    its a tiny computer winxp.

I just restored mine to day cause it was playing up but she has a different comp. if you need more specs just say.

If your m8 has windowsxp, it should be equipt with system recovery.
Restart the computer and while it's booting (as soon as you see blue & white screen) hit F8 key to open sys recovery. It will restore to factory state without the loss of your data. However, any software programs that have been installed by you (not the factory) will have to be re-installed.

  3. Factory System Restore

This might be a silly question, but hey. If I perform a Factory System Restore, I understand that it will wipe off any program I have installed since the purchase of my computer. Fine. But my Dell came with Norton antivirus already installed. Does it mean it will still be there along with XP? By the way, my computer came with no disks at all (no XP and no NAV). I had to get a backup copy from the Dell site but it doesnt inclyde NAV backup.

    Thanks!
