Exclamation Toshiba Satellite AC Adapter Problem

First off, I apologize if you hear about this issue far too much already.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A105-S4211. It's about 3 years old, and has its classic slew of problems (i.e. the lovely agglomeration of what appear to be pixel column fail on the screen). The worst and most aggravating of these, however, is the AC adapter. It just doesn't get power to my machine.

It started with a few frayed $90 cords, from having to twist and wiggle the cord to make it work (and eventually because I'm up to my neck in student loans I've had to resort to cheaply made third party deals)... but now nothing works. I jiggle the plug, and jiggle it, and jiggle it some more, but alas! No luck! The battery will charge up fine when I can get power to it, but the problem is getting the plug to just the right spot; lately I can't seem to find any positioning or jiggling of the cord that will give me more than a few seconds of the happy "AC power in, battery charging" LEDs.

Is there any way to fix this? Could it possibly be a simple case of re-soldering? Or am I going to be doomed as I more than likely can't afford to send the poor girl in for repairs? I will mention, I do have a slew of Comp Sci friends who I could probably pester into lending me their tools and/or fixing this if the issue can be resolved by resoldering or some other easy quick-fix.

Also, am I right in assuming that this is one of those problems where updating the BIOS won't accomplish anything?

Sorry if I ramble, I'm just massively irate with this long-standing issue. Thanks for reading!

Read the *Special Note*, there are two other possibilities for your model. You will have to disassemble it completely to find out which one you need.
