    Lightbulb New System - any tips?

    I am about to get my hands on a new system with the following specs;

    Intel E8400, MSI P45 Neo3-FR Motherboard, 4G DDR2 800 RAM, nVidia 1G GTS 250 PCI E, 750G WD 7200RPM SATA 2, Running WIN 7.

    Looking for some tips on overclocking etc, any mod suggestions anyone might have, fairly new to it all.

    Cheers

    My first tip would be not to overclock :0

    Are you building this?

    Agrees with Dave. I have the 8400. Great cpu. Doesn't need to be overclocked.

    I'm concerned about the mobo and you don't list the power supply.

    No, being assembled by Excel Computers, out of Sydney.

    Why the mobo concerns?

    MSI is not one of the better quality brands. Poor Customer Service. Here in the States, their rep is not top notch. ASUS and then Gigabyte get the top awards here anyway.

    What about the psu? It's probably the most important component and it gets overlooked all the time. People want a high end system and then put in a cheap psu to power it.. Then they wonder why it doesn't work or why it blew up.

    Honestly, you could build a better quality pc yourself and possibly save some cash.

    Mm the main reason for getting it built was for the overall system warranty. And if the PSU isnt up to scratch, should have no dramas replacing. What would you recommend as a minimum?

    I would recommend Corsair, Seasonic or PC Power & Cooling for psus. I would look at something in the 600 watt range based on the video card. If you could be more specific on the vid card, like a model #. I could be a little more thorough.
