    Upgrade BIOS?

    Hi,
I'm having problems with my new PCs performance (as mentioned in other thread). I wanted to know if updating the BIOS would have any effect in boosting the graphical performance of the machine?. I thought I had done it but only downloaded an assisstant. The board is an ASUS P4P800 (built in shop for me) and came with a disc to assist in this process. Is this worth doing and is it a complicated process? Should I make a back up of the current BIOS first? Also, what exactly is the AGP and how does it relate to the graphic card? Does the aperture need to be adjusted according to the graphic card or is this automatic? The Sandra diagnostic program says the aperture is 62mb but the card is 256mb. I'm confused.
    Thanking you again.

    hi
have read in a few graphics card forums about aperture size and they say set it to same or more than amount of memory on graphics card for best performance. ie: if 64 meg set aperture to 128.
also you might think about getting the latest chipset drivers for you motherboard(make and model you will find in sytstem tools/ststem information) chipset will be VIA,INTEL,SIS OR NVIDIA NFORCE (THINK YOUR BOARDS NFORCE)AGP stands for advanced graphics port early`r motherboards used pci slots. leave bios upgrade as a last resort if not done right can wreak motherboard.
    GOOD LUCK
