    New Boards

I plan on installing the latest vbulletin software next week. It's already out, but I want to give it a week to fester on the Internet in case there are any issues.

You will see major changes to as this goes from a 3.x to a 4.x generation. There will be improvements on the board, blogs, and a new publishing system on the front end. Why not?

If anyone wants to see it in action right now, visit vbulletin.com and feast your eyes. Their default install isn't very appealing IMO, but we will tweak the colors and size to be close to what we're running now.

I'll probably do it Monday or Tuesday. So if we're down for a while that's why.

In preparation, I ask that everyone delete old Private Messages they do not need, as the less we have to carry over the better. Thanks.

It may be a little rough around the edges, but the upgrades have been pretty much a success. Still working on some GUI changes, but I can see a lot of potential with the new boards. I know some people were having issues logging in earlier. I hope that has been resolved. If anyone sees anything realy strange let me know.

I know there are still problems with the layout, but I am working on them as much as the holiday season will allow.

Please feel free to post what you like and don't like and I will work on those changes asap.

    Hey Dave,

I'm now able to see the new forums!!

By the way, nice job. I think with over time this could be really cool, especially considering you might play with the color scheme a little bit.

But I was wondering, is there anyway I could customize my environment? Is there a way for someone to kinda customize things, or is that not included with this new version? I ask because the first thing I would do personally, is get rid of the FAQ link. I know I will never read that, ultimately because I've been coming here for years.

Also, the GUI on the right of this hasn't loaded correctly, with allt he smiley faces and such. I am using IE 7.

How do we get to the article front end?

And I know you have stuff to do with family, but these forums are not utilizing my widescreen like at all. Everything is on the left side and it's strange. It would look better if my 22 inches would be used.

Overall, I know these are nit picky things. But I'm just trying to make this site better. Cause it's fun.

Hope you had a good holidays Dave, I sure did.

Thanks for the input. I have centered the forums and have tweaked the colors a little. I plan on doing more in the days to come. Regarding the articles, they are under the HOME link in the nav bar. It is my goal to allow VIPS and other select users the ability to post articles on their own. VIPs should already have the ability to post there already. If not, let me know.

Also, I am giving as much exposure to the Blogs as I can, as I think the previous version did not do a great job with that and it withered on the vine.

    Hey I have another suggestion,

Could you maybe keep the Today's Posts link? Maybe put it under quick links.

    Thanks!

Maybe you can answer a question I've been trying to get answered. There used to be a User CP tab that apparently no one else used because I'm the only one that can't find it. Clicking the User CP brought up a page with with posts that I was subscribed to that had recent replies. It also had the comments and points from the User Reputation section. I can't find that page anymore, and obviously the User CP link is gone. Thanks for any help, Bama.

I asked my psychiatrist when I might get better. He said he doesn't know, he's just practicing right now.

subscription and rep info can be found under the settings link in the upper right corner. I hope this is similar to what you used in the past.

That's it! I guess I never connected the name User CP to mean Control Panel, which basically means the settings page...

Now I'm happy. I don't have to wonder where to look for replies to posts I'm subscribed to anymore. Thanks Dave, I knew someone would find it eventually. I'm a little surprised that so few people seem to know what the UCP was though, I figured everyone used it to check their subscriptions. Maybe everyone else has a better way, but this works for me.
